What iz Skeet ?

The name Skeet is an English surname tracing back to the time of the Battle of Hastings in 1086. It emanated from Norfolk England and thousands of men bear this name today in the south east of England. The name means “swift” and thus is often assigned as a loving nickname similar to “scooter” or “sport”. The famous actor Brian Ulrich adopted this loving nick name and you know him as Skeet Ulrich. Basically it’s the same as saying “Swift Ulrich” or “Quick Ulrich”.
Skeet’s name goes back over 1,000 years in North West Europe and has been a surname and a nickname for centuries. In the world of storytelling, having a contradictory name is gold. Essentially we have a chonky and slow moving cat with the nickname “swift”… a fun contradiction out of the gate. Look at Skeet’s picture and you hardly guess you are looking at a creature that is swift. Skeet, as every single living thing in the Jazzmine and Skeet universe, comes from something in the real world. Skeet represents a long lost cat very important to the founders of the show and was the driving force of creating the show. The cat Skeet represents was bestowed it’s name almost two decades ago and will forever be how we remember her (the real cat was a girl).
The last name Budge is a Scottish surname and comes from Archibald their cat dad in the show. It is a real Scottish surname dating back centuries in Scotland. Thus the name “Skeet Budge” is a very ancient north west European name combination but also makes a fun cartoon name. Most important it’s the name sake of the real fur baby the cartoon character represents.
This is Skeet’s name, but what is he ? In a word… different. Just different. Skeet is neither stupid nor slow witted. To the contrary he is highly intelligent and his mind works and assess quickly. Skeet simply communicates and processes information differently than most people… that’s it. Even more amazing and what makes him so magical… he experiences no negative emotion. Skeet never feels anger, pain, regret, sadness, fear. He ONLY feels the positive emotions of happiness, love, empathy. Skeet loves the world and everything in it unconditionally… even though he knows it may not love him back. He still loves. If the entire world was made of people like him there would be no wars, no hardships or strife. Sadly its not.
Because Skeet is different to the predator mind Skeet appears weak. Skeet becomes an amazing ink blot test for those that sit opposite him. Anyone who hones in on or makes fun of his speech patterns and apparent lack of understanding are usually the most miserable and mean spirited people that attack the weakest and most vulnerable of us. You can learn much about someone by how they treat weaker and more vulnerable things. Thus… always watch who is attacking Skeet for his weakness of communication and information processing. You may find they all tend to be similar. A word to the wise on this note… Jazzmine is fiercely protective of Skeet. Whereas he may not stand up for himself… she will viciously come after anyone who might hurt his feelings. In her eyes, she is the reckoning of anyone mean enough to hurt such a sweet creature. If you are giving Skeet the business in Twitter posts and being mean… expect her to come on and give it back to you tenfold. Understand Jazzmine is not Skeet. She is a psychotic control freak Siamese who secretly loves Skeet’s company and sees herself as his protector. If you hurt Skeet and trip Jazzmine’s switch… god help you and don’t look to us for reprieve. Even we can’t reign her in.
Like all characters in our show. Skeet will ALWAYS be in character on Twitter. You are never dealing with the writers, you are truly dealing with Skeet. Jazzmine is on Twitter but sleeps 20 hours a day so we don’t see her much. That is changing soon and she is going to get more active. In addition more of the show’s characters will be coming online and you will get to experience all their unique personalities. However, till the end of time, Skeet will always be the Rosetta stone of the show. The center piece of the floral arrangement that, though unconventional, somehow stylish and you can’t seem to take your off of it.
